Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Wennyei Konyak, NCS, has issued an order regulating the sale, storage and use of firecrackers across Mon district, citing concerns over air and noise pollution and public safety during Diwali and other festive occasions.
The notification stated that firecrackers are brought into the district from outside and sold and used during festive occasions. It noted that their use could contribute to air and noise pollution and pose risks to public safety.
Citing directions issued by the Supreme Court of India and the Government of Nagaland, the DC directed that only licensed or authorised persons would be permitted to possess and sell firecrackers. Temporary sale would be allowed only at locations approved by the competent authority.
The order further stipulated that only permitted or green crackers conforming to applicable standards may be sold and used. Prohibited, high-noise and banned crackers, including joined or series crackers, would not be permitted.

The Superintendent of Police, Mon, and other concerned authorities have been directed to conduct necessary checks and ensure strict enforcement of the order.
The notification warned that violations would invite seizure of firecrackers and appropriate action under applicable laws and rules.
The order came into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
