Mon Town to observe bandh on 9 September against heavy extortion

Mon Town has called for a total shut down on 9 September in protest against heavy extortion and harassment in the community.

The Konyak Union Mon Unit (KUMU) issued a press release today informing all shops, fuel pump, gas agencies and commercial vehicles in Mon Town to observe the bandh from 6am to 6pm on Friday, 9 September.

The president of KUMU said this is an unanimous decision taken by Mon Block Civil Societies to protest against the extortion and harassment taking place in the business community.

Mon Area Students’ Union and Mon Town Students’ union will take full voluntary duty to ensure smooth enforcement during the given hours of the bandh. It has been declared that shops and vehicles found violating the bandh will be dealt with strictly.
