Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully organised Rozgar Melas at Guwahati, Dimapur and Siliguri on May 23 as part of the Government of India’s flagship nationwide employment initiative. These events, aligned with the Prime Minister’s commitment towards employment generation and youth empowerment, marked another significant step in providing meaningful career opportunities to newly recruited candidates selected for various Central Government departments.
In a major initiative towards large-scale employment generation, Prime Minister, Narendra
Modi participated in the Rozgar Mela programme through video conferencing at 11 a.m. and addressed the newly appointed candidates on the occasion. During the programme, more than 51,000 appointment letters were distributed to selected candidates across the country. Addressing the appointees, the Prime Minister encouraged the youth to dedicate themselves towards nation building and public service while highlighting the Government’s continuous efforts towards transparent, merit based and technology driven recruitment processes.
This edition of the Rozgar Mela was simultaneously conducted at 47 locations across India, including three venues under the jurisdiction of NFR. Around 400 participants attended physically at each venue, including nearly 200 newly recruited candidates. Appointment letters were formally handed over to selected candidates by the dignitaries present during the programme. The initiative further reflects the Government of India’s continued emphasis on employment generation, streamlined recruitment and empowering the youth through meaningful opportunities in public service.

At Guwahati, the Rozgar Mela was organised at Rang Bhawan Auditorium, NF Railway Headquarters,
Maligaon in the august presence of Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Cabinet Minister for Ports, Shipping
& Waterways and Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha). Senior railway officials led by Veer Bhadra Vishwakarma, Additional General Manager of NFR along with other dignitaries were also present during the programme. The dignitaries handed over appointment letters to newly appointed candidates and congratulated them on joining government service.
Similarly, the Dimapur programme was held at Town Hall, Dimapur in the presence of Pabitra
Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles, along with senior officials and invited dignitaries. Appointment letters were distributed to selected candidates during the programme.
The Siliguri programme was organized at Officer’s Club, Kashmir Colony, New Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) in the presence of Kamlesh Paswan, Minister of State for Rural Development, Member of Parliament from Jalpaiguri, Dr Jayanta Kumar Roy, along with local MLAs were also present on the occasion. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of newly recruited candidates and officials from various departments.
The appointments covered various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India including the
Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and several other departments.
