S Phangnon Konyak, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Nagaland, raised a Special Mention during the Parliament Session on 28th March 2024 where she urged Centre to increase investment in sports to strengthen the sports infrastructure in Nagaland.

Highlighting the immense potential of youth in the state, the MP emphasized the need for upgraded facilities, modern training centers, and better resources to nurture sporting talent. She stressed that despite the growing enthusiasm for sports, the lack of adequate infrastructure continues to be a major challenge for athletes from Nagaland.

“In recent years, our youth have demonstrated remarkable talent and determination in various sporting disciplines. However, the absence of proper infrastructure limits their opportunities to compete at the national and international levels. It is imperative that we bridge this gap by enhancing existing facilities and creating new avenues for sports development in the state,” she stated.

She urged the Government to allocate necessary funds and formulate a comprehensive plan to support aspiring sportspersons from Nagaland, ensuring that they receive quality training and exposure.
