Mungmung celebrated at Seyochung village

Seyochung Village and Akashvani Kohima jointly celebrated Mungmung 2026 at Seyochung Village.

The celebration brought together villagers, visitors, cultural groups and members of the Seyochung Village Union from different towns. The festival highlighted the rich traditional culture and heritage of the Sangtam community.

Different traditional activities were presented during the celebration, including

  • Phishü Khidong, Longmikhi, Machi Khidong and Fürü Thsü Khudong – Folk Songs
  • Xuh la Müraküduba – Bamboo Pole Climbing
  • Rangshü zing mülitaba – Tug-of-War
  • Mihlaa mülihtaba – Traditional Way of Igniting Fire
  • Shong ngumülitaba – Top-Spinning

Speaking during the celebration, Lichothri Sangtam, Village Council Chairman, said that the partnership between Seyochung Village and Akashvani Kohima is a step towards preserving and promoting the traditional culture through continued cooperation.

He welcomed the citizens of Seyochung and thanked members of the Seyochung Village Union’s who travelled from different towns to celebrate Mungmung together. He also welcomed tourists and visitors from different states and places and expressed hope that their visit to Seyochung would leave a positive impact and encourage more people to visit the village.

Officials from Akashvani Kohima expressed their gratitude to the village for its warm hospitality and cooperation. They also appreciated the visit to the Mithun farm at Singtra, describing the experience as extraordinary and the traditional way of preserving the culture as impressive.

They further appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the people of Seyochung in welcoming guests and celebrating Mungmung. They expressed hope that the festival would strengthen the partnership between Seyochung Village and Akashvani Kohima and create more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Visitors and members of the public also shared positive feedback about the celebration. Many said that Mungmung at Seyochung was worth visiting and experiencing. They noted that the festival is not only about spending money but is also creating income and revenue opportunities for local people in different ways, which is an encouraging sign for village tourism and the local economy.

The organizing committee expressed its sincere gratitude to all brand partners, supporters, village members, volunteers and individuals who contributed in different ways towards the successful celebration of Mungmung 2026.
