Nagaland has secured multiple recognitions for its performance in promoting micro food processing enterprises, with the Department of Food Processing receiving the Second Runner-Up Award for Best Performing State in the Small State Category at the PMFME Conclave 2026 held in New Delhi.

The conclave was organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, at the India Habitat Centre on August 24 and 25. The State award was presented by Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan in recognition of Nagaland’s efforts and achievements in strengthening the micro food processing sector and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs across the State.

According to a DIPR update, the award was received on behalf of Nagaland by officials of the Department of Food Processing and the State Project Management Unit (SPMU), led by Deputy Director, Food Processing, Zakielatuo Yiese.

Nagaland’s achievement was further strengthened by individual and institutional recognitions. Jessy Jurry, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Kohima, was conferred the Best Performing District Nodal Officer (DNO) award, while Rukuveto Lohe, District Resource Person (DRP), Phek, was recognised as the Best Performing DRP in the State.

Under the convergence programme, the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) was also recognised for its performance, with State Programme Manager Lentinaro Imchen receiving the award on behalf of the mission.

The multiple awards reflected the collective efforts of the Department of Food Processing, Department of Industries & Commerce, SPMU, NSRLM, DAY-NULM, DNOs, DRPs, the banking sector and other stakeholders involved in supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening Nagaland’s micro food processing ecosystem.

The PMFME Conclave brought together stakeholders from across the country to showcase diverse food products, entrepreneurship initiatives and success stories, besides providing a platform for discussions on the growth and development of India’s micro food processing enterprises.

For Nagaland, the recognitions marked a significant achievement and are expected to further encourage efforts towards promoting local food products, supporting grassroots entrepreneurs and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through food processing.
