Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) said it will contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Our election committee has also been approved by AICC, informed NPCC President Supongmeren Jamir to Nagaland Tribune.
The Congress have had no presence in the 13th and 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly unable to win even a single seat in the 2018 and 2023 state Assembly polls. Earlier, in the 12th NLA, the party’s numbers were reduced to zero after its eight legislators shifted loyalty en-masse to join the NPF.
Despite, the downfall of the Congress in the state, the party still continues hoping against hope to make i’s presence felt.
“The Search Committee has also been set up and we have received few applications and screening will be done accordingly and definitely there will be a Congress candidate”, said Jamir.

Admitting that Congress is experiencing a slump period, Jamir said that the last two elections (2018 and 2023) the party have been very vocal of the ruling government’s corruptions and the deprivation of rights of the people however, he said the ultimate result of the previous two state elections was that the voters could not do well, pointing out that it must be due to some “technical” problem.
Jamir asserted that the Congress party is always standing and fighting for the welfare of the people and with this slogan, it will set up a candidate for the Lok Sabha polls.
Further, the NPCC President urged the Naga community, NGOs and the student community to come forward and fight against the RSS activities which is affecting the Naga society and its religious aspects of being a Christian state.
