Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, IAS said that with the election in the state just two weeks away, campaigns by political parties will intensify and therefore urged voters, especially in the village level, to support clean election, a DIPR report stated.
The CEO was speaking as the chief guest of the Orientation Workshop on Systematic Voters; Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) organised by the Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office Kohima, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in association with Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland at Kohima on 11 February 2023.

The CEO also asked the Private Registered Troops (PRTs) how best they can help reach the message to the masses in enrolling their names in the Electoral Roll and practicing democratic way of exercising their franchise.
The report also said that Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS, the guest of honour at the programme said that, to have a fair and clean election, we need to have democratic election process as envisaged in the ECI guidelines.
Shanavas challenged and urged the youths of the state to be role model in changing the system. He also said that Private Registered Troops (Parts) can do a lot in bringing positive changes in the society to grow and move forward especially during the election.

During the Technical Session, as the Resource Person, Deputy Secretary & OSD to the office of CEO Naga, Kikumsungla Jamir highlighted the features and importance of SVEEP.
Earlier in the programme, Field Execution Officer, Head of Office, Field Office Kohima, P. Sophie while delivering the welcome address, said that SVEEP has emerged as a phenomenon in the arena of providing voter literacy. He also highlighted the objective of the workshop, which is on capacity building for PRTs from Nagaland and Manipur to carry the message of SVEEP in identified areas of the state by training and equipping PRTs on election process, creating voter awareness and effective communication during SVEEP campaign with special focus on Information, Motivation and Facilitation.
The program was chaired by Tiamongla Kichu, welcome song and special performances was presented by PRTs from Nagaland and Manipur, and the vote of thanks was pronounced by News Editor, AIR Kohima, Asonuo.
