Nagaland athletes had a successful day at the field today, winning nine medals including three gold, one silver and five bronze medals for the state at the North East Olympic Games 2022 in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Apart from Athletics, the Taekwondo players too brought glory to the state by winning four medals on Sunday which consisted of two golds and two bronzes.
Till 9pm of the third day at the 2nd edition of the sporting meet, the sportspersons from Nagaland had won a total of 14 medals.
In Women’s Athletics events, Tsujen won the bronze in 200M (above-20); Songmo P secured gold in 3000M (U-20 Girls); Tsuchoi T won silver in Women 200M; H Wannya Konyak won bronze in Women 400M (Above-20); Niansai T secured gold in Women 800M (U-20); and Peiheiteile Esalung won bronze in Women 1500M.
In Men’s Athletics events, Keduhoto Zao secured bronze in 200M (Above-20), whereas renowned Naga wrestlers Venuzo Dawhuo and Seyiekhrietuo Yiese battled for the medals in Shot put. Eventually, Dawhuo won the gold and Yiese settled for bronze.
In Taekwondo, Zakienneikho Peseyie secured bronze in Senior Boys (U-74 kg); Heutingyi Zeliang got gold in Senior Boys (U-63kg); Bovito Chophy won gold and Ngaiching Phom won bronze. Keneilevo Nagi won silver in Senior Boys (U-80 kg).
