Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 will involve a total of more than 2800 participants: NOA press release

The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) has expressed that it is overwhelmed with the tremendous response that it has been received from all the districts of the State. The Nagaland Olympic Association has received a total of 1894 participants from 16 districts registered for the Games out of which 1615 are athletes and 279 team managers and coaches, a press release from the association informed.

The release stated that the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 kicked off with the Football event on 17 August 2022 at IG Stadium, Kohima wherein, 344 football participants from 15 districts are currently present in the Games Village, Meriema.

It said that Nagaland will witness its first ever official Paralympic Games on 23 August 2022 at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan, Dimapur.

“The sports will consist of Para-Bocce, Para-Judo and Para-Shotput. It will be a one-day event. A total of 65 para-athletes, organisers and officials will be part of the games,” NOA informed.

The release also informed that there will be three venues for the other sports staring from 22 August 2022: Longleng: Badminton; Dimapur: Lawn Tennis & Shooting Sports; Kohima: Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Basketball, Football, Table Tennis, Taekwondo & Wushu.

It also informed that a total of 48 Officials will join the contingents of each district as Chef de Mission, Deputy Chef de Mission and District Team Manager and 200 qualified Technical Officials along with 100 volunteers will be involved in the Games.

“In total the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games will involve a total of more than 2800 athletes, officials, organizers, performers, crew,” stated the release.

The release further informed that there will be seven trophies for the Games: Team Championship Winners; Team Championships Runner-Up; Team Championships 2nd Runner-Up; Spirit of Olympics Award; Olympic Fair Play Trophy; Outstanding Sportsman and Outstanding Sportswoman.
