Nagaland State Election 2023: Candidates file nominations across state, majority to file on last day

Nagaland: With the last date for filing nominations on 7 February, more candidates filed their nominations at their respective constituencies on Monday

With the Nagaland State Assembly elections due in a few weeks and the last date for filing nominations fast approaching (7 February), more candidates filed their nominations at their respective constituencies on Monday.

Chümoukedima: JDU Candidate Imsumongba Pongen and INC candidate Akavi N Zhimomi for 4 Ghaspani-I A/C filed the nomination papers at DC office, Chümoukedima.

Zhaleo Rio, NDPP candidate for 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, too filed his nomination on Monday.

Dimapur: In Dimapur, BJP candidate H Tovihoto Ayemi, also filed his nomination from Dimapur-1 AC at DC office Dimapur. He was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla, Jacob Zhimomi, PHED Minister and others.

Meanwhile, NDPP candidate from 2 Dimapur-II, Moatoshi Longkumer, also filed his nomination today.

He later tweeted, “With Prayer and Thanksgiving, I have filed my nominations today. I thank everyone in 2 Dimapur II AC for giving me a mandate in 2018 and I hope the same support and blessings will continue from you in 2023 (sic)”.

Kiphire: Khaseo Anar, an intending Indian National Congress (INC) candidate from 59 AC Seyochung-Sitimi, also filed his nomination today.

Kohima: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also filed his nomination at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office at Chiephobozou. He is contesting from Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) ticket from Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency (AC).

Khriehu Liezietsu also filed his nomination at Kohima DC office. Liezietsu is contesting from a NPF ticket in 10 Northern Angami-I AC.

Following his nomination, the candidate kicked off his campaigns in a programme at his residence near IG Stadium, Kohima where he said that he was humbled by the continuous support of the public over the 10 years of his political career.

NPF party president and father of the candidate, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in his short speech stated that the NPF party, as its name says, is the only real regional party in Nagaland. He said that party was formed primarily to speak for the Naga people in the political platform and as such, it ought to be loved and supported by the people.

He further said that when people vote for NPF candidates, it is an indication of sincere love for the Nagas and for Nagaland.

Mon: Union Minister Arjun Munda and BJP spokesperson, Nalin Kholi flew to Mon district to show their support for BJP candidates P. Paiwang Konyak of 41 A/C Tizit and Er. Cheong Konya 46 A/C Mon town, as they filed nominations for the 14th NLA Elections 2023.

Er. Kahuli Sema, BJP candidate, filed nomination on 6 February 2023.

Zunheboto: Kazheto Kinimi, BJP candidate for 31 Akuluto A/C and KT Sukhalu, NDPP candidate for 35 Zunheboto A/C filed their nominations while G Kaito Aye, NDPP candidate also filed his nomination for 36 Satakha A/C.

At the ADC’s office in Pughoboto, Dr. Sukhato A Sema, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate for 13 Pughoboto A/C filed his nomination.

The lone woman BJP candidate, Er. Kahuli Sema for 32 Atoizu A/C too filed nomination at ADC office in Atoizu.
