Nagaland University organised a valedictory ceremony of the Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 on September 15 at the new Conference Hall of the Administrative Complex at Lumami. The Central government-mandated campaign commenced from September 1.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University as the chief guest.
In his address, Dr. Abemo exhorted the participants not to limit the cleanliness drive to the Swachhata fortnight, but to keep practicing all through the year.
He declared the names of the winners of the best out of waste competition- Hiyanla H Kips and Mezingono Kiso (first position), Manvik Singh of KV Lumami (second position), and Imokokla Imsong, Research Scholar (third prize).

In addition, consolation prizes were awarded to Shantitoli Yeptho, Annagrace Lungbila Ki, Subashree Nayak, Dr. Biplab Pal, Sohan Nayak, Kausik Kr. Nayak, Barneel Deka, and Kaushik Deka.
A short video screening on the environment was arranged by Dr. Ashutosh Tripathi, assistant professor department of EVS. The video clips and photographs of the activities undertaken during the campaign period were also displayed to the audience.
A melodious rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine by Imsuwaden Ozukum a Political Science student enlivened the programme.
Dr. Lobeno Mozhui, assistant professor department of Zoology presided over the ceremony, while Dr. Likhase Sangtam, chairperson of the Swachhata Committee 2025 delivered the welcome address. Dr. Sangtam outlined the activities undertaken by the Committee over the period of the campaign involving pledge taking, signature campaign, plastic collection, cleaning of bakul plantation area led by NSS volunteers, best out of waste competition, etc.
The programme came to a close with the vote of thanks which was delivered by Peter Ki, convener of the Committee for Swachhata Pakhwada 2025.
The programme was attended by statutory officers, HoDs, faculty members, administrative staff, and students including Prof. M.K. Sinha, senior professor department of Economics, Kahoshe Sumi, Dy. Registrar, GAD and Abhijit Sutradhar, Dy. Registrar, Academic Section.
