Nagaland wins 3 golds and 1 silver in Wrestling on Day 4 of NE Olympic Games

Kohima: Niansai T, who secured gold in Women 800M (U-20) yesterday, got another gold today in 1500M (U-20)

On the fourth day of the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 being held at Shillong, Meghalaya, the wrestlers from Nagaland brought laurels to the state by winning 4 medals, including 3 golds and 1 silver.

Wrestler Ngonuyi and Bong Tang both won gold in the 61kg category (Men) and 57kg category (Men) respectively. In the 50kg category (Women), Nosezono won a silver medal and in the 53kg category (Women), Vikono secured a gold.

Also in the day, Nagaland won a silver in Table Tennis Men’s Double.

In Badminton, Debahuti Lehon claimed a bronze in Women’s Single while in Women’s Double, Debahuti Lehon and Ekumyalan got a silver.

In Badminton Men’s Single, Leihong Konyak secured a bronze. Zhakuo and Tovali too got bronze in  Mixed Doubles.

Till the filing of this report, the state had added an additional 14 medals to the tally. Most medals came from Athletics like the previous day at the Games in Shillong as athletes representing the state continued with their good form.

In Athletics 5000M (U-20 Girls), Songmo P got a silver. Yesterday, Songmo had secured a gold in 3000M (U-20 Girls).

Peiheitelie Esalung, who won a bronze yesterday in Women 1500M, got another bronze in 800M Women. Meanwhile, Niansai T, who secured gold in Women 800M (U-20) on Sunday, got another gold in 1500M (U-20) today. Cekrotalu came second in the same race and won a silver medal.

In High-jump, Eto Kezo won gold while Neiketoulie Belho got his sold from Long Jump Men.
