Pupirei Pfukha, Nagaland’s oldest citizen at 121 years old, passed away on 15 March evening at her residence in Kigwema village, Kohima.
Pfukha was married to Vichapa from the same village and had four children. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
According to family members, her husband passed away in 1969, while their four children also predeceased her.
A 1982-issued voter identity card by the state election department is the only document that proves her age.
She reportedly became blind in her eighties and had also lost her hearing ability some years back.
Her mortal remains will be laid to rest at the village on Thursday afternoon after a funeral service by the church.
Meanwhile, former BJP legislator, Mmhonlumo Kikon took to Twitter and condoled her demise.
