Political stalwart MC Konyak, former Minister for Forest and Environment is reported to have passed away today. In a message, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio  stated that Nagas have lost another guardian in his passing.

Rio expressed shock over the demise of M.C. Konyak who was not only a former colleague but a close friend,  sincere, hard- working, selfless and a pacifist.  Mentioning that Konyak always encouraged brotherhood and unity, Rio reminded that the former Minister tirelessly worked for the welfare of the people, especially those from the marginalised sections.

“It is, indeed, with a heavy heart I accept his passing away. He will be missed dearly. In his demise, the Eastern Nagaland people as well as the Nagas in general have lost another guardian and it will be difficult to fill the emptiness left behind by him. He will be remembered and cherished for all the sacrifices he had made for the welfare of our society and his contributions to the State. Let us celebrate his life and give thanks to God for the person he was,” stated the Chief Minister.

“In this hour of grief, my family joins me in conveying our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and we pray to God Almighty to give them courage and solace to bear this irreparable loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” condoled Rio.
