The  National  Consumer Day,  which is commemorated December 24 will be observed in Nagaland in unison with the rest of the country. The Government of India enacted the Consumer Protection Act 1986, which was superseded by the Consumer Protection Act 2019. The Nagaland Consumer Protection Rules 2021 have been implemented by the Govt. of Nagaland and enforced for the protection of consumers against exploitation by unscrupulous traders and to save consumers from the sub-standard goods and services.

The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 also ensures that the consumer grievances can be addressed at  the consumer courts in the state i.e., the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission  (District Commission) in the district level and the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission  (State Commission) at the state level.

Moreover, consumers can also seek guidance on consumer related queries from the office of the Nagaland State Consumer Helpline through the Toll Free  No. 1800-345-3701 and land line phone  No. 0370-2292232.
