NEP 2020 an ambitious re-imagination of India’s education system: NEA

Kohima: Highlighted during the panel discussion was the importance of strategizing for the development of skilled professionals in Nagaland

The Nagaland Education Association (NEA) organized an enlightening panel discussion on the vision of NEP 2020 on the third anniversary of NEP on Saturday at Morung Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima, a DIPR report stated.

Dr Zavise Rume, President of NEA, expressed that the discussion aimed to delve deeper into the policies, particularly the vision of NEP, in the context of Nagaland. He commended NEP 2020 as an ambitious re-imagination of India’s education system, designed to transform the nation into a modern, progressive, and equitable society.

During the session, the panelists, including experts from Nagaland University, SCTE, and the Department of Higher Education, exchanged insights and ideas on how NEP 2020 could be effectively implemented in Nagaland.

Dr Rume stressed the importance of fostering a practical and skill-oriented education system that empowers students to generate knowledge through practice and experience. He emphasized the need for radical changes in education and attitudes towards values, words, and skills within the state.

Addressing the significance of indigenous knowledge, Dr Rume proposed that leveraging the Naga ethos of pragmatism could serve as a solid foundation to enhance and promote Nagaland’s educational system.

The panel discussion provided a platform to discuss strategies for producing skilled professionals in Nagaland and highlighted the role of NEP 2020 in shaping the state’s educational landscape.

Dr Khotole Khieya, Dr Bendangyapangla, and Dr Medonggoi Rhakho, among other esteemed educators, contributed their valuable insights during the interactive session.

The program was expertly moderated by Dr Ketoukhrie-ü, while the concluding remarks were delivered by Dr Neizekhonuo Liezietsu, offering valuable takeaways for the advancement of education in Nagaland.
