Nepotism, favoritism, or political interference in public recruitment undermines the future of qualified youth: NSUM

The Naga Students’ Union Mizoram, (NSUM) extended its firm solidarity and support to the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, (DNSU) in addressing the critical issue of biased appointment of Assistant Professors under the Department of Higher Education.

Expressing deep disappointment over the alleged lack of transparency, fairness, and adherence to merit-based selection in the recent recruitment process, the Union stated, “It is disheartening to witness such irregularities in a sector as vital as education, where integrity and equal opportunity must be the foundation of of all appointments. We believe that any form of nepotism, favoritism, or political interference in public recruitment violates the principles of justice but also undermines the future of qualified youth who have worked hard to meet academic and professional standards.”

It condemned the alleged partiality in the recruitment of Assistant Professors, and urged the Department of Higher Education and concerned authorities to conduct an immediate, transparent, and impartial review of the entire selection process.

It also expressed solidarity with the DNSU and all student organizations committed to upholding justice, meritocracy, and the rights of aspiring educators.

“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to stand against any form of systemic injustice and will continue to advocate for a fair, transparent, and inclusive education system that serves the best interests of the students and the community,” asserted the Union.
