Mokokchung: Solidarity of the people is expected to keep community hall’s spirit alive, says Er. Kelio

The new office building of Watsü Mungdang (Women’s Organization), Ongpangkong Compound Youth Union (OCYU), and the Yimyu Ward Council “Arok Kimen” was inaugurated with great pomp and pride on 2 August 2023 at the Community Hall in Yimyu Ward.  The esteemed guest of honour, Er. Razouvolie Kelio, Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department, Government of Nagaland, graced the event.

In his address, Er. Kelio expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the community for coming together to build the new building and conveyed his gratitude to the almighty for the opportunity to be a part of this momentous event. Having previously worked in Yimyu, he fondly reminisced about the memories created and emphasized the value of “Arok ” or “togetherness” that led to the successful completion of the hall.

The chief engineer acknowledged the significant contributions from the Watsü Mungdang, Ongpangkong Compound Youth Union (OCYU), and the Yimyu Ward council “Arok Kimen” in bringing this project to fruition. He praised their unity, mirroring the words of John F. Kennedy, who declared that he would speak to the hearts of the people.

Er. Kelio emphasized that the size or designation of the work does not diminish its significance; “every work is important.” He extended his heartfelt congratulations on the successful completion of the building, which is expected to bring people together for collaborative efforts.

He further said that while the building stands completed, its true potential lies in how the community utilizes it. The responsibility to maintain and utilize the hall for the betterment of the community now lies in the hands of the people, and their solidarity is expected to keep the community hall’s spirit alive, Er. Kelio added.

Chaired by Lipoktoshi, a Council Member, the program also included a heartfelt Bible reading and prayer by Puryapang, Pastor of Yimyu Ward. Short speeches were delivered by the Watsü Mundang President, President of OCYU, the Building Committee Convener, and the Chairman of Yimyu Ward Council. The event concluded with a mass prayer, seeking blessings for the greater cause and successful utilization of the newly constructed community hall.

The inauguration marks the beginning of a new chapter for Yimyu Ward, offering a space that fosters togetherness and unity among its residents.
