A newborn baby girl was found abandoned at an under-construction building in Bayavü on Wednesday morning, prompting swift action from local residents, medical personnel and the police.
According to sources, the infant was discovered by labourers who had arrived for work at the construction site located near the highway, opposite Alma Computer Institute. One of the workers said he heard the cries of a baby shortly after reaching the site. After alerting a fellow worker, they informed a nearby woman about the discovery.
According to the witness, the workers were reportedly hesitant to handle the infant due to her fragile condition. However, the woman who apparently is also the witness covered the baby with a cloth and immediately rushed her to GIVF Hospital at High School, where she was given first aid. The newborn was later referred to Naga Hospital, where she has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
