Niansai T and Neiketoulie Belho awarded best athletes at NE Olympic Games 2022

Kohima: Niansai T got two gold medals at the meet while Neiketoulie Belho won three golds

Best Athlete in Women’s Athletics U20 Niansai T and Men’s Athletics Neiketoule Belho being awarded by Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma & Vice President of Athletics Federation of India Abu Metha.

Athletes from Nagaland, Niansai T and Neiketoulie Belho, were on Tuesday awarded Best Athlete (U-20) Girls and Best Athlete Men respectively at the 2nd Northeast Olympic Games 2022 in Shillong.

Niansai T got two gold medals at the meet. The first one came from Women 800M (U-20) category and the second from 1500M (U-20).

Neiketoulie Belho won three golds – 100M, Long Jump and 4×100 Men’s Relay.

Team Nagaland continued to give a strong performance in Athletics. In Athletics 5000M Women, Tsuchoi T won gold while in Athletics 100M Women, Tsujen won a silver medal.

In Athletics 4x100M Relay Men, team Nagaland won a gold medal and a bronze medal in the 4×100 Relay Women.

In Athletics 800M Men, Tsole Yhokha secured a bronze medal. The Athletics 4x100M Women’s Relay team also won a bronze medal.

In total, Nagaland accumulated nine gold, four silver and ten bronze medals in Athletics.

The Nagaland team also secured several medals in Wrestling. Mhaneikholie won a silver medal in Wrestling Men 74kg, while Chusen also won a silver medal in Wrestling Women 57kg.

In Wrestling Men 70kg, Keneiselie won silver and in Wrestling Men 65kg, Kusai got a bronze medal.

Well-known wrestler Venuzo Dawhuo won his second gold in Judo (73 kg and above). He also won his first gold in Shot put.

In Weightlifting Men 109kg, Tsuknungakum Jamir won a silver.
