The monthly District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting for Niuland District was held on June 1 at DC Conference Hall, Niuland.

The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DWSM, Niuland, T L Kiusumong Tikhir, NCS welcomed the members and highlighted the significance of having regular District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting. The DC also urged the board members to extend full cooperation to deliver better water quality services for the benefits of the people of the district.

He also requested the GBs of the two villages viz, Viyito and Hovishe village to be the role models for the district in complying to the statutes of the SWM Rules, 2026.

The Executive Engineer, PHED, Rural Division Dimapur & Member Secretary (DWSM), Er Nirie-e Nisa, prersented the agenda for the meeting, wherein he informed that the department is celebrating the “Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu” campaign from June 1 to 5, during which several activities are planning in the District for everyday during the campaign event such as Sensitization of Gram Panchayats and Lead Facilitators on SWM Rules, 2026 and order of the Court, Site Visit and Functionality Assessment, Identification of Bulk Waste Generators, Awareness Generation, Plantation & Cleanliness Drives and Special Gram Sabha for World Environment Day 2026.
