Niuland DPDB meeting held

Niuland District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held on June 26 at DC’s Conference Hall, Niuland.

DC Niuland, T L Kiusumong Tikhir, while chairing the meeting welcomed the new board members and reviewed the last DPDB meeting minutes.

The board members deliberated on the problems of road and bridge connecting 8 villages in Aghunaqa Area. In this regard, the DC endorsed the Executive Engineer, Road & Bridge to come up with comprehensive planning in the next DPDB meeting.

Dr Benchilo Ngullie, District TB Officer, gave a presentation on the TB status in the district and highlighted the various centrally sponsored schemes that are being implemented in the district. She also elaborated on the achievements and challenges faced by the department.

Kivitoli Sema, Field Trainer (Niuland District) for census 2027, briefed the gathering on the role and functions of the enumerators and Supervisors, in regards to the ongoing self enumeration. Sema clarified that the ongoing self-enumeration is solely voluntary and said the designated enumerators will begin from 1st July 2026.

The meeting also witnessed a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation from Hokato Yeptho, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO). During the presentation members of the house raised the status of African Swine Flu (ASF) in the district. Yepthomi replied that the department has tested the pigs both dead and alive from the district and found them to be positive.

He clarified the question raised by the members on insurance schemes that are being implemented in the district, stating that the insurance in collaboration with National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) Scheme covers 85% of the Premium of the sum insured and 15% to be borne by the owner of the animal.
