The Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO), in a letter to the DC Kohima, has reiterated its position that no bail be given to the accused pertaining to the attack and death of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, Political Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, by two youth namely Neizosetuo Kire & Khrietsonyü Whuorie, on May 18, 2024.
It reaffirmed its memorandum submitted to the DC on May 20, 2024 particularly Point No.3 “That no bail should be given to them under any circumstances. WAYO also warns that if any person or group tries to bail them out, they will be held responsible for any untoward consequences”.
“Further, it is learnt that one of the two culprits is out on bail and the other culprit too has applied for bail. These recent developments are of grave concern. The WAYO therefore brings to your attention for utmost serious consideration that while the case is in the court and it is up to the wisdom of the court to grant or not to grant bail to the “accused”, CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral wherein it is clearly shown how the culprits attacked the Political Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, in broad daylight in the heart of Kohima, leading to the death of the victim,” stated the WAYO.

It further added, “It is not even one year and emotions are still high. Further as per court documents it is found that “till date only two of the 39 listed prosecution witnesses have been examined” and also that the role of person released on bail “was only of instigating the confrontation”. This has raised a lot of questions in people’s minds. Therefore, freeing the culprits at this juncture may lead to disturbances and even serious law and order situation.”
The WAYO has, therefore, urged the DC to take proactive steps for maintaining public peace.
