The Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENNWA) has welcomed the Nagaland Legislative Assembly’s decision to support legislative, executive and financial autonomy under the proposed Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), describing it as a positive step towards ensuring equitable development of Eastern Nagaland.
In a statement issued by its Media Cell, ENNWA expressed appreciation to the Assembly under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for what it termed a “bold” decision.
The association said the decision of Nagaland Assembly for travelling to New Delhi for consultation meeting with central Home Minister and other agencies would definitely clear the cloud of confusion and suspicion that has persisted between the State Government and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) even after the signing of the historic Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on February 5, 2026, in New Delhi.

At the same time, ENNWA criticised certain members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union (ENLU), alleging that they had opposed the provision for a legislature under the FNTA. It claimed that such leaders had acted against the interests of Eastern Nagaland. “They are not only destructive forces but also senseless and irresponsible,” it said.
The association urged that members whom it described as “negative” and opposed to the legislative provisions under FNTA should not be included in the proposed delegation to New Delhi, arguing that their presence could undermine the Assembly’s decision and the interests of the people of Eastern Nagaland.
Stating that it was not criticising the entire ENLU, ENNWA said only a few members had failed to demonstrate clarity and commitment to the cause of Eastern Nagaland. It appealed to all ENLU members to unite in support of the aspirations of the region.
