The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has strongly refuted the recent claims made by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, regarding the so-called unprecedented development and infrastructure progress in Nagaland under the BJP-led Government.

The NPCC said Pabitra Margherita may choose to highlight budgetary allocations, railway electrification figures, and investment announcements, but the people of Nagaland are more concerned with the reality they experience every day.

Development cannot be measured by statistics and speeches alone; it must be reflected in completed projects and improved public infrastructure, the NPCC stated.

“The BJP leadership continues to boast about railway development in the Northeast, yet major railway projects in Nagaland remain incomplete,” it said.

It pointed out that Dimapur Railway Station, the sole major railway gateway to Nagaland, has not received the level of modernization and upgradation that was promised under various railway development initiatives.

Passengers continue to face inadequate facilities while railway stations in many other parts of the country have undergone substantial transformation, it added.

Raising concerns over the condition of roads across the state, the NPCC stated that from Dimapur to Niuland and several other districts, roads are plagued by potholes, poor drainage, and substandard construction. Many newly constructed roads have deteriorated within a short period, raising serious concerns about quality control, accountability, and the effective utilization of public funds, it said.

Stating that people of Nagaland deserve answers, the NPCC questioned, “If infrastructure development has indeed progressed as claimed by Shri Pabitra Margherita, why do citizens continue to struggle with incomplete railway projects, neglected railway infrastructure, and deplorable road conditions?”

The NPCC urged the BJP Government to stop indulging in self-congratulatory narratives and instead focus on delivering tangible results.

It said the Government must provide a transparent status report on pending railway projects, expedite their completion, upgrade Dimapur Railway Station to modern standards, and address the deteriorating condition of roads across Nagaland.

The Congress party said the people of Nagaland deserve genuine development, accountability, and infrastructure that improves their daily lives—not hollow claims and political propaganda.
