President of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC), Herole Y has extended his support to the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) rally for religious freedom to be held in Kohima.

Herole said that religious freedom is a fundamental right and that the concerns raised by the Christian community should be taken seriously.

He urged the Nagaland Government to take a clear stand on the issue and strongly present the concerns of the people of Nagaland before the Central Government. He called upon the State Government to put pressure on the Centre to ensure that the religious freedom and constitutional rights of the people are protected.

“The government should listen to the concerns of the people and take up the matter seriously with the Central Government. Nagaland has its own unique social, cultural and religious context, and the voices of its people must be respected,” Herole Y said.

He also appealed to the people to remain peaceful and united while raising their concerns through democratic and constitutional means.

The NJCF has called for the rally as a peaceful expression of concern over issues affecting religious freedom and the Christian community.

Herole Y said the Youth Congress stands with the call for protecting freedom of faith, conscience and peaceful religious practice.

He further urged the State Government and elected representatives to work together and make the concerns of the people of Nagaland clearly heard at the national level.
