The NSCN-IM has expressed sadness over the passing of Dr. Gina Shangkham, former President of the Naga Women Union, Manipur (NWUM) on 2nd January 2025.

Describing Dr Shangkham as a woman who loves the Naga history and their political rights, the NSCN/GPRN said that she will be remembered for her extraordinary contributions to the cause of Naga People.

The message added that Dr Shangkham was the first women doctorate of the Moyon Naga tribe, the founding member and the President of the Naga Women Union, Manipur, and the recipient of the prestigious “Laarchangnumn Award”.

Extending condolences to the family and close friends of the departed, the NSCN stated that Dr Shangkham’s “legacy of love and respect for the Naga people will continue to live in the hearts of the Nagas for many years to come.”
