The Naga Students’ Federation has called for a ‘peaceful democratic protest’ tomorrow at the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) office at Kohima after receiving no positive answers from the State Government on its demand for reducing the interview marks for the Combined Staff Recruitment Examination 2022.

The NSF is demanding that the viva-voce component of CSRE be brought down to 5% from 12.5%. The personal interviews for the candidates aspiring for the 630 posts are scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

The students’ body stated that the decision to protest has been taken as per the resolution made at its 4th Presidential Council Meeting that states:

‘The Federation shall resort to democratic form of agitation and also boycott the Personal

Interview of Combined staff Recruitment examination 2022 to be conducted by the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) if the demand for the viva-voce component in all categories is not reduced to 5% of the total marks as against the proposed 12.5%. The units shall extend full support to the Federation as and when called for the same.’

Earlier, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, Chakhesang Students’ Union, Rengma Students’ Union and Lotha Students’ Union extended complete support to the NSF in statements to the press echoing that the reduction in the marks is for the welfare of students and youths of the State.

RSU has even directed its members to abstain from reporting for the interviews. LSU has also asked the same from the tribe’s aspiring candidates. The Lotha student body further stated that it will not hesitate ‘to stand and fight for the rights of the students’.
