NSRLM conducts village-level convergence camp at Chukitong

The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under the Rural Development Chukitong block conducted a one-day village-level convergence camp at Chukitong on May 20, to Enhance Access to Government Services.

The convergence camp witnesses active participation from over 160 beneficiaries along with officials from multiple line departments.

The camp was aimed at fostering better coordination among departments and facilitating direct access to various government schemes and services for the public. Block Development Officer, Chukitong Block, Dr. Ezao Ezung, who delivered the keynote address. Dr. Ezung emphasized that such convergence camps are primarily intended for the benefit of the public, offering them a one-stop platform for information, services, and support. He also highlighted the importance of the PRI-CBO Convergence Project, which focuses on strengthening collaboration between Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to improve grassroots governance. Dr. Ezung further encouraged Self Help Groups (SHGs) to strive for self-sustainability by creating their own resources and reducing dependence on external support.

Also speaking at the event, the Block Programme Manager (BPM) of Chukitong Block stressed the importance of forming Citizen Committees in every village under the block. He underscored that these committees would play a crucial role in community planning, social accountability, and local monitoring of development schemes. The BPM encouraged village leaders and SHGs to actively initiate the formation of such committees to strengthen participatory governance at the grassroots.

The following departments and service providers were present at the camp: Rural Development, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Food and Civil Supplies, Health and Family Welfare, Veterinary Department, Ujjwala Scheme Desk, Aadhaar Services, Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY), Moneywise Financial Literacy Program.

During the camp, the public availed a wide range of benefits and services, including:

-New addition and correction of Ration Cards.

-New Aadhaar enrollments and updates.

-Distribution of Health Cards (Ayushman Bharat).

-New addition and correction of MGNREGA Job Cards.

-Registration for Old Age Pension, Widow Pension, and Disability Pension. Assistance with insurance schemes.

-Health check-ups and medical consultations.

-Application and support under the Ujjwala Gas Connection Scheme.

-Veterinary consultation and medical assistance for animals, including treatment and awareness on livestock care

Participants expressed appreciation for the camp, noting that it saved time and effort by bringing multiple services to one location. The camp also served as an awareness platform for various flagship schemes and entitlements.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nzanbeni AC-SISD NSRLM, who lauded the collaborative efforts of all departments and called for continued inter-sectoral cooperation to ensure inclusive, efficient, and transparent delivery of public services.
