Two students of Nagaland University were selected for the prestigious Hiroshima Orizuru Fellowship Summer Course on Peace and Sustainability supported by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), Japan, and successfully completed the programme.
The participants were Repakaba Tzüdir, a PhD scholar from the Department of Sociology and Impolong Changkiri, a postgraduate student from the Department of Psychology who were selected to represent Nagaland University at the international programme jointly organised by Hiroshima University, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Japan), and Columbia University (USA).
The 10-day summer course was held from July 28 to August 6 at the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University under the Hiroshima Orizuru Fellow Initiative.
The programme, themed “Clinic on Conflict and Collaboration in Natural Resource Management – Advancing Positive Peace and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” brought together young researchers from different countries for interdisciplinary learning, policy dialogue, field-based research, and collaborative academic exchange.

During the fellowship, the scholars participated in expert lectures, workshops, field visits, and collaborative research activities designed to strengthen their understanding of environmental conflicts, peacebuilding, sustainable resource management, and evidence-based policy development. Their successful completion of the fellowship reflects Nagaland University’s growing commitment to academic excellence, international collaboration, and global engagement.
The experience provided the scholars with valuable exposure to interdisciplinary research and enhanced their ability to translate research into practical solutions for sustainable development. The participation of Repakaba Tzüdir and Impolong Changkiri, has further strengthened the university’s international academic linkages and serves as an inspiration to other research scholars seeking opportunities for global learning and collaboration.
