NVD 2025 celebration in Mokokchung echoes call for judicious participation in election process

Mokokchung District joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 15th National Voters’ Day on the Theme ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ on 25th January 2025 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mokokchung, organized by District Election office in collaboration with Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung.

Speaking during the programme as the Guest of Honour, L.S Vinod Kumar, Vice Principal, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung said that National Voters Day has been celebrated since the year 2011 under various themes, to disseminate the importance of voting. He highlighted that the theme is to encourage all the voters to exercise their fundamental rights to strengthen the democratic process of our country. As a responsible citizen, one needs to judiciously participate in the election process to elect the right representatives for the growth of the nation, he added. He also pointed out that since the youths are the future of the country, they should be aware of the importance of their voting rights.

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji in his keynote address called for active participation of all the enrolled voters in the democratic process of the nation. Encouraging the young voters, he said they must be judicious while exercising their voting rights. Underscoring the role and responsibility of the BLOs, he said they are the backbone of the democratic process to enroll and bring out proper electoral rolls for a clean and fair election process.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, while delivering the welcome address said the nation has dedicated a day for all the voters in the country because they are the one who decide the destiny of the nation adding that in a democratic setup the power lies in the hand of the voters. Therefore, one must act as the guardian to preserve this sacred role.

Earlier in the programme, a special presentation from Sentinaro, Jamir, a Political Science student from FAC. The Guest of Honour felicitated newly enrolled voters and administered the voters’ pledge.

The programme was chaired by Renben Mozhui, Assistant Election Officer, Mokokchung and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Lipokrenla Jamir, Associate Professor, Dept of Pol. Science FAC. During the programme, DC presented the Best BLOs Award 2025 to 10 (ten) BLOs from Mokokchung District.
