Over 200 compete at 33rd Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship held in Kohima

Kohima: NTA president hopes state government will support NTA to have a good stadium

The 33rd Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship under the theme ‘Strike for Glory’ was held at Pele Khezhie Stadium, D. Khel, Kohima Village on 12 July 2023. 252 participants from all over Nagaland took part in the championship.

Commandant 1st Assam Rifle, Col. SBB Sharma, gracing the function as Special Guest, saluted the girls for taking keen interest in learning this sport as it will be ‘very helpful for them in future’. The commandant also encouraged all players to give their best and aim high.

Nagaland Taekwondo Association President, Pele Khezhie regretted that NTA is unable to provide a better stadium but said that the Pele Khezhie Stadium, that was constructed with limited funding from the government, belongs to the Taekwondo family.

Mentioning that the NTA was doing its best to accommodate the players and give the best for the growth of taekwondo in Nagaland, Khezhie hoped the state government would support NTA to have a good stadium. He also expressed hope that the government would approve the appeal submitted by NTA for better infrastructure and development of the game.

The teams participating at the 33rd Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship are Kohima, Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Wokha, Shamator, Phek, Kiphire, Peren, Tuensang districts and also Youth Resources and Sports and Nagaland Police.
