Patkai Christian college observes National Science Day 2024

The National Science Day was commemorated in Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) today under the theme “Science for a sustainable future”.

Organised by the Department of Science PCC, the event was held at Bundrock Chapel with Dr.Nzanthung Ngullie, Asst.Professor, Department of Civil engineering NIT-Nagaland, as the Chief Guest.

In his speech, Dr. Ngullie mainly focused on the vision for science and technology for a sustainable future to help understand our environment and its impact which is essential for making smart decisions about how to use resources.

The Chief Guest noted that science and technology encouraged and helped find solutions to problems such as climate change, pollution and improve the quality of life for all people. “It allows us to build a world that is both sustainable and desirable and recognises our fundamental partnership,” stated Dr. Ngullie.

He mentioned that the international year of basic science for sustainable development which was organised in 2022 and 2023, focused on the links between basic science and sustainable development goals. Ngullie also expressed that all SDGS require for input of science and technology as it helps to identify mechanisms to adequately use knowledge and transfer technology.

Earlier the program was chaired by Minchai, Asst. Prof. Department of Mathematics, prayer by Avono, Asst. prof, biblical studies. The welcome note was delivered by Thepfuvilie Pieru, Principal PCC, while special number was presented by Hantula Quinker, 6th semester, Department of Geology. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.N.Premkumar Singh, Dean of Science and the closing prayer by Avono savino, Asst professor, Department of Botany. This was followed by the second session including a quiz competition and poster competition.
