With the purpose to sensitise about gender equality and women’s empowerment, the district administration of Peren and Sakhi One Stop Centre (OSC) Peren town commemorated International Women’s Day on 8 March.
Grace, OSC Counsellor, gave the expert talk on the theme “Digital innovation and technology for gender equality”, a press release informed.
Emphasising that bringing women and other marginalised groups into technology results in more creative solutions, she said that there is greater potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality.
Earlier, Peheilusile, Case Worker, OSC gave an introductory note on women’s day and enlightened the attendees about Sakhi OSC scheme, which provides a range of services including olive assistance, medical aid, psychosocial counselling, legal counselling, video conferencing, and temporary shelter to women affected by violence in an integrated manner under one roof.
Interactive sessions related to possible ways of creating equality and empowerment of women were also held.
