Y.B.Angam, the President of Phom People’s Council tendered his resignation on Tuesday citing that he feels he “failed the people of Eastern Nagas in general and our people in particular.”

In the resignation letter addressed to the Vice President of the Council, Y.B.Angam wrote that they had stood firm to uphold the ENPO’s Chenmoho Resolution to abstain from participation in either State or Central elections but “today’s (11.06,2024) ULBs election are the latest of very poor taste which I feel I have failed the people”.

“Somebody must take the responsibility and I have concluded that, in these circumstances, it would not be right for me to remain in the office,” he explained.

Y.B.Angam said that it had been an honour to serve the Phom people in the past six months and expressed gratitude to the people.

“I will, as always remain available to our people and I am more than happy to provide support and cooperation throughout this transition,” he assured.
