The Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi, PM SVANidhi, Lok Kalyan Mela, a nationwide special campaign was organized by the Pungro Town Council at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pungro, Kiphire on September 17.

The PM SVANidhi Scheme launched on June 1, 2020 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India for providing collateral free micro credit loan facilities to street vendors affected by COVID- 19, has immensely benefited street vendors across the nation ever since its inception 6 years ago.

The special Lok Kalyan campaign is a precursor to the PM SVANidhi scheme with an objective to empower street vendors by facilitating micro loans, promoting digital transactions, and linking families to broader social security schemes.  Resource persons from Medical Department, Pungro, SBI, Pungro, and Customer Service Point, Pungro highlighted on the importance of the campaign and its benefits.

Small businesses and street vendors across Pungro subdivision attended the campaign.
