Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival 2024 underway in Tuensang

The Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival 2024 is currently underway in Tuensang celebrating under the theme ‘Shensinge’ (in cognizant of Distinct Attributes), informed the DIPR. Held at the Parade Ground Tuensang Town from January 11 to 13,  Deputy Chief Minister, T.R Zeliang graced the Poanglüm Mini Hornbill Festival as the Chief Guest.

Speaking at the Festival, Zeliang extended greetings to all the Chang community, attributing the Poanglüm as one of the biggest festivals of the Chang community and the pulling of log drum as a sign of unity among the Changs. “Being a Naga everyone should promote our culture and tradition especially the young generation and this festival is a platform to showcase our rich heritage. Government of Nagaland is encouraging every tribe to celebrate Mini Hornbill to promote and improvised our distinct culture and tradition, “ stated Zeliang.

Zeliang also highlighted the positive impact of the celebration of Hornbill Festival in Nagaland which promotes brotherhood among Nagas and is an International event of fission of Traditional and modernization. “Tuensang being an historical district must uphold the rich heritage and culture,” apprised Zeliang. He also informed that the Mokokchung- Tuensang road for two-lane is under process and exhorted the tribal Hohos and village council to come together for any land and property compensation for a successful project.

Short speeches were delivered by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang and the Host of the Festival, Lima Onen Chang MLA. The programme was followed by walk to Khongdang, Naga Go- Karting race, log drum Pulling, folk fusion from Ngangpong Village and Poanglüm Marathon. The Festival was marked by the Say No to Drugs Campaign by CBLT and Plastic Minimalist by TTC.
