Police personnel accused in December 2 assault suspended

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Pienyü, in an order today, has suspended Constable Vito Yeptho for allegedly assaulting one Rahul Amin on December 2 around 2100 hours at Nagarjan Dimapur. The incident is said to have been circulated in social media platforms.

“The said action/conduct of C/N Vito Yeptho in assaulting a civilian by a custodian of law as Police man have brought disrepute to himself and also to the Police Department as a discipline force which amounted to an unbecoming act and a misconduct, thereby violating Rule 4 Clause(1) Sub-Clause(i) and (iii) of the Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules 1968,” stated the order.

In exercise of the power conferred by Sub Rule(1) of Rule 6 of Nagaland Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1967, the IGP placed Yeptho under suspension with immediate effect.

“It is further ordered that during the period that this order shall remain inforce, the Headquarter of C/N Vito Yeptho shall be at IGP(Int) office Kohima and the said C/N Vito Yeptho shall not leave the Headquarters without obtaining prior permission of the undersigned,” mentioned the order.

During the period of suspension, the order directed that Yeptho will be entitled to draw subsistence allowance equal to the leave of half pay. In addition, he shall also draw dearness allowance and other allowances as admissible from time to time as per FR 53(1)(ii).
