The Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) for children between 0-5 years will be administered on Sunday, 3rd March 2024. Thereafter, house-to-house activity will be taken from 4th to 5th March 2024 to vaccinate missed children and ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.
In this regard, meetings were conducted in Mokokchung, Phek and Dimapur, DIPR informed.
The Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung requested all parents and adults to avail the facilities and ensure that all children between 0-5 years receive 2 Polio drops on this day at the nearest IPPI Booths.
Chief Medical Officer, Phek, Dr. Avilie Zao reminded the concerned citizens of Phek District to bring their children to respective/nearest Immunization centres. In this connection, the CMO has also requested the Health Care Workers to prepare all necessary arrangements and to start creating awareness activities for the programme.
District Immunization Officer, Rebecca highlighted that no wild Polio virus has been detected in India since 2011. She added that 3 out from 12 districts in Nagaland have not achieved AFP surveillance standards (NPAFP rate <2) and NID activities are to be followed by booth activity from 3rd March 2024 to cover maximum children through IEC and mobilization.
Chairing the programme, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Tinojongshi Chang urged all the departments to extend their support in elimination of measles rubella. He also called upon the gathering to educate the people and to create awareness, and to be vigilant.
