The District Convergence Meeting Cum Poshan Maah 2026 inauguration was held on September 14 at Zunheboto. District Co-ordinator, Poshan Abhiyan, Zunheboto, Mughalu Awomi, chaired the programme. The programme marked the formal launch of Poshan Maah activities in the district with active participation from various departments and stakeholders. District Programme Officer, Zunheboto, R Imtinukshi spoke on the significance of Poshan Maah 2026. The special address was given by Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS.

In his special address, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the critical importance of nutrition under the Poshan Abhiyan. He emphasised that the health of mothers and children forms the foundation of a healthy future and healthy kids. He noted that while some children may appear visibly healthy, Poshan Maah provides a systematic platform to track and monitor their nutritional status, ensuring no child is left behind.

Highlighting national concerns, Dharam Raj pointed out that the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains high in the country compared to developed nations, though it has been steadily reducing over the years. He stressed that nutrition is not a one-time elixir but a continuous process that requires sustained efforts throughout the year rather than being limited to a single month.

The Deputy Commissioner called for genuine convergence of multiple departments and multi-village participation to strengthen the programme. He also underlined the vital role of mothers’ organisations and youth organisations in driving community-level awareness and action.

Taking the Poshan Pledge, he said, reinforces collective commitment towards building a healthier generation.

The event reflected the government’s resolve under Poshan Abhiyan to combat malnutrition and secure a brighter, healthier future for the children of Zunheboto. The programme concluded with the Poshan Pledge taken by all present.
