Preparations underway to host G20 Summit: Nagaland Chief Secretary

Kohima: CS expressed hope that the state will be able to create investment opportunities through the G20 meetings and events

Chief Secretary, J. Alam, IAS has stated that arrangements are underway for a grand welcome of the G20 delegates who will participate in the summit meeting in Nagaland. The state will host the G20 Summit 2023 at Kohima on 5 April 2023 and as part of the preparation, various infrastructure at the airport, roads and venues are being revamped for the grand event, he added.

He stated that about 110 delegates are expected to visit, of which about 100 will be from 28 G20 countries and the remaining from international organizations that are part of the grouping.

J. Alam also said that the participants of the Summit will include delegates from big continental corporations, ambassadors and other senior representatives of their respective countries and that they will be arriving to the state on special flights on 4 April.

The Chief Secretary highlighted that there will be business meetings and cultural programs, which will showcase the strengths of Nagaland at the summit events. He said the meetings would focus mostly on agriculture & allied services, food processing industry and tourism and expressed hope that the state will be able to create investment opportunities through those events.

Further, he informed that on 4 April, a programme will be held at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima where the delegates will be accorded a formal welcome followed by business meetings at the State Banquet Hall on 5 April 2023.

He also notified that a cultural evening and dinner will be organised at Kisama Naga Heritage Village where the famous Hornbill Festival will be showcased for the guests.

Alam stated that India’s year-long presidency of G20, which began in December 2022, was a matter of great honour for the country.
