Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 launched across state

Kohima: Various thematic activities around nutrition will further be carried out at the state level through Anganwadi workers, ASHA, ANN, primary health centres, community health centres and schools

The POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan is Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children under 6 years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers, Launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

The month-long event will witness activities across the country on awareness about nutrition, sensitization on the importance of nutrition, identification and outreach programmes for pregnant and lactating women, awareness drives, camps and fairs for children below six years and adolescent girls and highlight objectives of ‘Swasth Bharat’ and plan activities to sensitize citizens about it.

At the state level, under the programme focus will be placed on traditional foods and linking of such foods with local festivals during the month.

Various thematic activities around nutrition will further be carried out at the state level through Anganwadi workers, ASHA, ANN, primary health centres, community health centres and schools. Such activities are being taken up to ensure a healthier future for women and children.

In Noklak, speaking at the inaugural function, Senior Supervisor, CDPO Office, Noklak, P. Hemping gave a brief introduction on Poshan 2.0 and stated that, in order to accomplish the target, it is the duty and responsibility of all the line departments to work hand in hand, and to make this mission a people’s movement through the support from local administrative bodies, Village Councils, SHGs and the community as a whole.

Poshan Pledge was administered to all the Anganwadi workers. Food staff under SNP were also distributed for ICDS beneficiaries on the occasion.

In Peren, Department of Social Welfare, Jalukie ICDS Project along with Medical Team from CMO’s Office, Peren jointly organised a block level importance of good nutrition-cum-medical camp at Lamhai Dungki Village Council Hall, Peren on 3 September 2022.

Pharmacist, Sunny also briefed the participants on National Nutrition Week 2022 which is being celebrated from 1 to 7 September. The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Lamhai Chairman, Akwa.

Poshan Maah & ICDS Project 2022 was launched in Longleng under the theme ‘Converging towards a healthy walk through life’ by CDPO, Longleng, Longlang Luckpan at CDPO’s Office complex on 3 September 2022 in the presence of Anganwadi and Health workers of the district.

While launching the programme, CDPO Longlang Luckpan spoke on the policies and programmes of Poshan Maah, its activities and the role and responsibilities of the health workers in the grassroot level. He also administered the Poshan Pledge to the health workers and officials.

In Tseminyu, Poshan Maah 2022 was launched by Longasen Lotha, ADC, Tseminyu on 3 September 2022 at BDO Tseminyu Conference Hall.

The ADC lauded the CDPO and staff for carrying out the various activities and schemes under Social Welfare Department. He also urged the Angawadi workers to continue being sincere and dedicated to their assigned duties and responsibilities and also be forthcoming whenever the administration and other convergent departments call them up for their assistance and coordination.
