Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. JK Patnaik, inaugurated the newly renovated gymnasium at the university’s Lumami campus on June 3, 2025. The event was attended by Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, staff, research scholars, and students.

In conjunction with the inauguration, the Sports Section of the university, led by Dr. Harish Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports (DDS), organized a Yoga and Fitness Competition as part of the Yoga Sangam Countdown Program under the Common Yoga Protocol. The event is one of the many activities lined up ahead of the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025.

Prof. Patnaik expressed satisfaction with the upgraded gymnasium and encouraged all stakeholders—students, faculty, and staff—to make full use of the improved fitness facilities.

During the Yoga and Fitness competitions, prizes were awarded across various categories, including employees, research scholars, and postgraduate students.
