The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has appreciated the Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome for his ‘honest admission’ of the disorder within Nagaland’s Department of School Education.

“Unlike many of our leaders who have made a habit of shoving ills under the rug, our Hon’ble Advisor has set a note-worthy precedent which hopefully will inspire other politicians to follow suit,” RPP said in a statement on Tuesday.

The party said that the department “is the worst managed and most corrupted in the state” and added that Dr Yhome’s report was “a severe indictment of his predecessors.”

RPP iterated its call for setting up of Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB) for recruitment of teachers in the state and also suggested that all interviews of potential teachers be carried out by empanelled university professors. It also stressed that “Under no circumstances should teachers’ recruitment be conducted like any other departmental recruitment.”

The party also appealed to the advisor to do away with the post of Principal Director in the school education department, stating that “it serves no exceptional purpose other than to render the office of the directorate redundant.” The post of Principal Director has only made domain experts like the Director of the department a rubber stamp, RPP added.
