Dr S C Jamir, Padma Bhushan, is celebrating his 91st birthday today.
Born Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir in Ungma village in Mokokchung district in 1931, he served as the state’s chief minister for around 16 years (1980, 1982–1986, 1989–90 and 1993–2003). Jamir was also Governor to the states of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha.
The most decorated person from Nagaland, Jamir has been honored with several awards in recognition of his public works including the Padma Bhusan – the third-highest Civilian Award in India – which was awarded to him in 2020.
On the occasion of his birthday, leaders of Nagaland have wished Dr S C Jamir on Twitter.
