S. Supongmeren Jamir replaces K. Therie as president of Nagaland Congress

Kohima: Therie had resigned from the position on Friday following the poor performance of the party

All India Congress Committee, on Friday, appointed S. Supongmeren Jamir as the new president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee. The AICC press release signed by K.C. Venugopal stated that Jamir’s tenure would begin with immediate effect.

AICC also expressed appreciation to the outgoing PCC president Kewekhape Therie for his contributions. Therie had resigned from the position on Friday following the poor performance of the party in the recently conducted general election in the state where the Congress failed to win a single seat.

Jamir was the vice president of NPCC.

Nagaland Congress on Saturday posted a congratulatory tweet for Supongmeren and wished him the best. “Deep gratitude to our outgoing President, Shri @kewekhapetherie for his many sacrifices for the party during his tenure,” it added.

K. Therie also congratulated Jamir on Twitter saying, “I am confident that your rich experience in the field of political activism will hold you in good stead in strengthening the ideology of the Indian National Congress.”
