The Department of Power, Electrical Sub Division, Mon informed all customers that due to certain temporary technical issues in the TUPS Computer billing system, some consumers have received electricity bills containing accumulated readings of previous months in a single billing cycle.
The Department has regretted the inconvenience and confusion caused to consumers and assured the public that this issue is being addressed urgently.
It also clarified that this billing discrepancy is not caused by Smart Meter installation or Smart Meter technology but the issue arose due to technical problems in the TUPS billing/computer system during data processing and bill generation.
Consumers have been requested not to panic or spread rumours regarding Smart Metering. Necessary corrections and adjustments are being worked out, and consumers will receive normal and regular billing in the upcoming billing cycle, the Department said.
