Self defence training culminates at Niuland

The three- day self-defence training culminates at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Stadium, Niuland on June 10. The training was organised by the District Administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Niuland under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Niuland, in collaboration with Niuland District Pencak Silat Association.

The training, held from June 8 to 10, was conducted by an elite team of instructors from the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, all of whom are official Guinness World Record Holders from Nagaland. The team was led by Deep Kumar, General Secretary/Head Coach Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, along with H. Vikishe Chophy, Vice-President, Nagaland Pencak Silat Association.

The training team also included decorated athletes – Kevin, National Gold Medalist, Kitenlo K. Thono, International Silver Medalist and National Gold Medalist and Liike Kibami, National Gold Medalist.

The program aimed to equip young girls and women with practical self-defence skills through Pencak Silat, while building confidence and safety awareness under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

The program was chaired by S. Boloka Jimo, SFL (DHEW). DC Niuland, T.L Kiusumong Tikhir NCS, and Neisiezo Theunuo, NCS, EAC Niuland, graced the occasion.

The Deputy Commissioner commended Niuland District Pencak Silat Association and the trainers for bringing world-class expertise to the district and urged participants to become ambassadors of safety.

Certificates were presented to all participants who successfully completed the training. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks by Neisiezo Theunuo, NCS, EAC Niuland. He expressed gratitude to the Deputy commissioner, Niuland District Pencak Silat Association, Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, DHEW Staffs and all the brave girls for making the program a success.
