A seminar on the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” was successfully held at Government High School, Longmatra Town. The programme was organized by the Longmatra Area Students’ Union (LASU) in collaboration with the District Level Committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
The programme started with registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer by
T Tangethe Sangtam, Finance Secretary, LASU. The welcome address was delivered by Chasii Charles, Headmaster of Government High School, Longmatra.
In the first session, Chozila T Sangtam, ANM, Health and Wellness Centre, Phelungre, spoke on the topic “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.” She explained the harmful effects of drug abuse on health, family, and society.
She encouraged students to stay away from drugs, make healthy choices, and help build a safe and drug-free community.
After the tea break, the second session on “Overcoming Addiction” was taken by Tsarise P Sangtam, UESI Field Co-ordinator, Kiphire. Sharing his personal experience, he spoke about his past addiction to alcohol and marijuana and how he was able to overcome it through faith and determination.

He advised students not to use drugs out of curiosity, peer pressure, or for temporary happiness, as drugs only bring more problems and suffering. He encouraged them to always choose a positive path in life.
An anti-drug pledge was also administered to the participants, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
In his closing remarks, the President of LASU thanked the District Level Committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) for its concern and efforts in protecting students from drug addiction.
He also thanked Government High School Longmatra, St Luke School Longmatra, and Eastern Mirror for their active participation and support.
The programme concluded with a plantation drive, symbolizing growth, responsibility, and a commitment towards a healthier and drug-free future.
